The shooting occurred around 4 p.m. Friday in a parking lot near Harris-Stowe State University where a graduation ceremony for St. Louis Public Schools’ Sumner High School was being held.

The annual award is given to schools with high academic achievement or those that perform at high levels while serving a significant proportion of disadvantaged students.
